Barton Tutors Needed! As the new school year begins, our need for Barton tutors has increased. A waiting list is beginning to develop. The Barton Reading and Spelling System is a one-on-one tutoring system which, for almost twenty years, has been helping struggling readers and spellers succeed. Training for new volunteer tutors to work with St. Columbkille students will be held soon. No previous teaching experience is needed. The only prerequisites are good hearing, two available hours a week, and a commitment to help a child become a better reader. To learn more about this program, click here. To volunteer, or if you have questions, please contact Kathy Monico at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Morning Safety Squad! St. Columbkille has a plan to make our campus even safer with our Morning Safety Squad. We’re looking for parent volunteers to be on-site daily during the opening of the school when our building is most vulnerable. Our goal is to position volunteers at block corners and near doors as an added pair of eyes and a noticeable presence for all to see. Parent guards are becoming very common nationwide in schools and churches to deter potential problems. The hours required are 7:45 AM to 8:01 AM on school days. We will train, but the duty is simple: smile to all, and have your cell phone ready to call 911 if there are any problems. To participate in this important program contact Michael Bilgere at email@example.com and sign up using the SignUp Genius at: www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f44aaac28a1fb6-morning
Faith Formation Opportunities! Remember that participating in faith formation activities such as Adoration, MOMS of Faith, and attending HSA meetings and the Parish Mission count towards your Stewardship Hours requirement.
